James Howard Mullinax, age 78, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Clay County Hospital in Flora, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. There will be a two-hour viewing prior to the service. Judy Poe will be officiating. Burial will be at Keen’s Chapel at a later date. Memorials may go to Keen’s Chapel Cemetery or donor’s choice. 

James was born on July 26, 1937 in Ellijay, Georgia, the son of Orvil and Lilly (Woody) Mullinax. He married Helen Cook on November 19, 1997 in Ringo, Georgia. He was a member of the Flora American Legion Post #14 and Edgewood American Legion Post #1168. He enjoyed driving his truck, visiting with friends at the coffee shop, tinkering around the house, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Mullinax of Edgewood, Illinois; three sons, Sam Mullinax of Woodstock, Georgia, “Kimo” James Howard Mullinax Jr. of Sevierville, Tennessee, Randall Elledge of Farina, Illinois; four daughters, Christine Cantrell of Sevierville, Tennessee, Dainty Manning (husband Curtis) of Sevierville, Tennessee, Tracey West of Flora, Illinois, LeAnn Sapp (husband Larry) of Farina, Illinois; brother, Clyde Mullinax (wife Wylene) of Ellijay, Georgia; two sisters, Christine Skelo of McDonough, Georgia, Pauline Mullinax of Ellijay, Georgia; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orvil and Lilly Mullinax; three brothers, Jackie Mullinax, Claude Mullinax, JB Mullinax; two sisters, Venalee Mulkey and Audrey Cantrell
