LaVona Lee Jones, age 92, of Effingham, IL formerly of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 10:32 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. With a one hour visitation prior to service.  Dr. Joe Scheets will be officiating. Burial will be at Keen’s Chapel of rural Farina, IL.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

LaVona was born on April 17, 1923 in Sandoval, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Myrna (Murphy) Reynolds. She married Calvin Lee Jones on November 14, 1979 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2009. At the age of two, she moved to near LaClede on a farm.  LaVona attended grade school at LaClede and High school at Farina. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, playing scrabble and she was known as the champion. LaVona enjoyed the country life and all her family home for the holiday dinners. She loved to travel and her and Cal traveled all 48 states in their camper.

She is survived by her 4 sons, Ben Colclasure (wife Angie) of Long Beach, California, John Bonner (wife Linda) of Champaign, Illinois, Jim Bonner (wife Connie) of LaClede, Illinois, Lee Painter (wife Barbara) of Effingham, Illinois; 3 daughters, Retha Coleman of Effingham, Illinois, Bonnie Holste (husband Tony) of Altamont, Illinois, Mary Veatch (husband Keith) of Edgewood, Illinois; step-son, Steve Jones (wife Paula) of Fairland, Indiana; step-daughter, Evelyn Thompson (husband Bob) of Indianapolis, Indiana and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and great - great  grandchildren.
