Virginia Mae Bartels, age 75, of Shumway, Illinois passed away at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, March 02, 2017 at her home in Shumway, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Mark White will be officiating.  There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Burial will be at Mason Cemetery in Mason, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.  Thursday, March 09, 2017 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may go to Mason Christian Church, Mason Civic Center or donor’s choice. 

Virginia was born on August 05, 1941 in Dorans, Illinois, the daughter of Glen and Rose (Young) Hutton. She married Wilbur Roy Bartels on January 03, 1959 at the First Christian Church in Stewardson, Illinois. She loved the outdoors, farming, embroidering, and spending time with her family and friends.

Virginia is survived by her son, Roy Bartels Sr. (wife Kathy) of Shumway, Illinois; two daughters, Karen Anderson (husband Kevin) of Ottawa, Illinois and Rose Timmons (husband Jason) of Beecher City, Illinois; brother, Dick Hutton (wife Jerry) of Stewardson, Illinois; two sisters, Nancy Crosby of Mattoon, Illinois and Nina Rincker (husband John) of Mattoon, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, Roy Bartels Jr., Jeremiah Bartels, Melissa and Laura Anderson, Christine Galloway, Kayden Timmons, Joseph Galloway and 3 great-grandchildren, Dreyden and Kenzi Bartels and Gracie Sledge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Rose Hutton; husband, Wilbur Roy Bartels; daughter, Sarah Bartels.
