Virginia L (Young) Stine

May 11, 1921 ~ December 31, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Virginia L. Stine, 96, of Wingate passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born in Butler Grove Township in Montgomery County, Illinois on May 11, 1921 and was a daughter of the late Herman and Bertha Rutherford Young.

Mrs. Stine graduated from Hillsboro Community High School class of 1939. She attended Eastern Illinois Teacher's College at Charleston, Ill. where she met her husband Dr. Paul T. Stine, who passed away on May 31, 1986. After she started her family, she was a Kindergarten teacher for many years. Mrs. Stine enjoyed quilting, painting, crafts, hummingbirds and being involved with many organizations which included Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary for 25 years, charter member of Dorchester Hospice for 20 years, Dorchester Center of the Arts for 25 years with 13 years as chairman, Samplers Quilting, Bayside Quilting, Woman's Club,  Stitcher's Club, Historical Society, Retired Teachers Association, Folk Museum Association, St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she helped served meals and the flower fair, The American Legion Post #91 and the Retired Officers Association.

She is survived by a daughter Sandra J. Nailos (Tom), two sons Stephen P. Stine, and David A. Stine (Evangeline), two grandsons James Paul Nailos and Ethan Taylor Stine, two great grandchildren Chase and Madison Nailos, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Stine is preceded in death by seven siblings. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Bonnie Shively officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Elmo, Ill. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to South Dorchester K-8, 3485 Golden Hill Road, Church Creek, MD 21622 or to a charity of your choice.
