Brenda Joyce Gallion, age 80, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at her home in St. Elmo.
There will be a private family service. Memorials may go to Oblong Children’s Christian Home 4094 E 1050th Ave, Oblong, Illinois, 62449, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the donor’s choice.
Brenda was born on February 19, 1943 in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Orlen Ralph and Ducile Eileen (Weger) Aten. She married Lester L. Gallion on June 16, 1961 in at Dogwood Creek Methodist Church in Oblong. She loved to travel, often finding herself in Texas from the months of January to March. She considered her children her everything and enjoyed raising them alongside the neighborhood kids. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Brenda enjoyed hiking and bicycling. Most of all, Brenda enjoyed living at her residence that she called her “Garden of Eden”. She spent 5 years working for Mrs. Ragsdale doing taxes and 10 years at Putnam Trucking as the log auditor.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Austin (fiancé Randy Kennedy) of Brownstown, Jenetia Homann of Altamont, Jeanine Putnam (husband Matt) of Altamont, and Jeanette Forbes (husband Joe) of Effingham; brothers, Paul Aten (wife Judy) of Robinson and Dean Aten (wife Pam) of Chickamauga, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 nieces and nephews, and 9 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlen and Ducile Aten; husband, Lester Gallion; and one nephew.
