Emmett L Horath

Emmett L. Horath, age 67, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at his home in Edgewood, Illinois.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Jim Giffin will be officiating. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may go to the family to offset funeral expenses, Edgewood Cemetery or the donor’s choice. 

Emmett was born on July 26, 1951 in Dieterich, Illinois, the son of Henry A. and Roberta L. (Yingst) Horath. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion Post#1168 and a lifetime member of the Effingham D.A.V Chapter 7. He was a craftsman and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his two sons, Kevin Horath of Columbia, Tennessee and John Horath of Edgewood, Illinois; daughter, Ida Batson (husband Michael) of Columbus, Georgia; brother, Conrad Horath (wife Janice) Braidwood, Illinois, Hank Horath (wife April) of Wisconsin, Wess Horath (wife Mary Jane) of Edgewood, Illinois, Darrell Horath (wife Shirley) of Iola, Illinois, Fred Horath (wife Peggy) of Wisconsin, Kevin Horath (wife Donna) of Iola, Illinois; two sisters, Mary Murry (husband Larry) of Edgewood, Illinois and Robbi Stone (husband Kenny) of Effingham, Illinois and seven grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Roberta Horath; two brothers, John Horath, Gary Horath; one sister, Mabel Horath; grandson, Nathan Joseph Horath and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Batson.
