William "Dutch" Eldon Austin

William “Dutch” Eldon Austin, age 89, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Center in Effingham, Illinois.

 Graveside services with Military Rites will be at the Salem Methodist Church cemetery at 11:30 AM on November 27, 2019. Memorials may go to The Gideons International or the donor’s choice.

William was born on February 12, 1930 in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of Charles and Bessie (Jones) Austin. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion post# 1168 and Salem Methodist Church. William served in the United States Army from September 28, 1951 to September 28, 1953.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Chapin of Lansing, Michigan and Jane Austin of Effingham, Illinois; sister, Melba Lawrence (husband James) of Effingham, Illinois; two grandchildren, Dylan Bartels and Courtney Chapin; and two-great grandchildren, Elinor Rose and Victoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bessie Austin; and two brothers, Charles E. Austin and Marvin Austin.
