Alan Edward Holtz, age 92, of Altamont, Illinois passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Lutheran Care Center. He was born on July 27, 1932 in Evansville, IN to the late Edward Henry and Huldah Emile (Fellwock) Holtz.

He was baptized on August 14, 1932 at Trinity Lutheran Church and confirmed on April 14, 1946 at Lutheran Church of our Redeemer. Alan graduated from Redeemer Lutheran School in 1947, graduated from Bosse High School in 1951, and graduated from Concordia Seminary in Springfield, IL in 1963. He became ordained at Lutheran Church of our Redeemer in Evansville, IN on June 30, 1963. He served as Pastor at Lutheran Church of our Redeemer in Cushing, OK from 1963 to 1969, Grace Lutheran Church in Jersey City, NJ from 1969 to 1973, Faith Lutheran Church in Derby, KS from 1973 to 1985, Grace Lutheran Church in El Dorado, KS from 1985 to 1994. He retired in 1994. After retirement, he continued to serve Illinois area churches by preaching and playing the organ for over twenty years.

Alan is survived by his niece, Gail Sickman and her husband Don; nephew, Greg Kranawetter and his wife Jennifer; several great and great great nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Erwin Kranawetter and his wife Carolyn.

Alan was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara (Holtz) Kranawetter and infant sister, Shirley Holtz.
