Brenda S. "Susie" Forbes, 77, of rural St. Elmo, Illinois peacefully transitioned to join her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Connection Church, 2230 US Highway 40, St. Elmo, IL with Pastor Tim Caraway officiating. Memorials may go to Golden Retriever Foundation, Golden Retriever Rescue, or the donor's choice.

Susie was born on October 23, 1946 to John and Edith (Fair) Bowers in St. Elmo.

She retired from HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital after spending 20+ years in various positions in the maternity ward. She dedicated her life to her family, grandkids, and great- grandchildren. She had a special love for her golden retrievers Tucker (deceased), Nellie (deceased) and her newest dog, Jewel. Susie adored all her family and was most at home reading her Bible, listening to Worship music (she really loved Zach Williams), cooking in her kitchen or knitting a new baby blanket for family or friends' newest arrivals.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (husband Delbert) Goodman, and son Marvin (wife Dana) L. Forbes, Jr., all rural St. Elmo. She is also survived by grandchildren, Amanda (partner JT) and Christopher (wife Claudia) Garrison, Thomas (partner Shyan) Forbes, Georgette Forbes, Adana (husband Rafeal) Saucedo, Kayla Warren, Ariel (husband Carlos) Creer, Sydney (husband Johnny) Crum, Shauna, Miles (wife Kayla), Jennie Goodman, and 22 great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Edie (husband Gary) Dial of St. Elmo, Paula (deceased husband Terry) Rose of Altamont, Nancy (husband Paul) Kistler of St. Elmo, Hunter-Brock McMillian, and a very large number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Susie was proceeded in death by both John, Edith and Step-Father Paul; her beloved husband of 54 years, Marvin; sisters, Dean, Mavis, Vella-Jean, Alice, and Deb; and brothers, John and Jim.
