Debra Jeanne Hawkey, age 72, of Salem, Illinois, formerly of St. Peter, Illinois, was taken home by her dear Lord and Savior on June 21st, 2026 in her home in Salem, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Harvest United Methodist Church, 1661 Route 37, Edgewood, Illinois, with visitation two hours prior to start of service. Jeff Morrison will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Farina cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or donor’s choice. Debra was born in Farina, Illinois, on December 1, 1953, the daughter of Harold Kline and Anita (Wodtka) Kline. She married Robert “Sonny” Hawkey on March 22, 1970, in Farina, Illinois. Debra loved reading, tending to her flowers, and feeding the hummingbirds. She was a nature lover. Her fur-baby Tucker was by her side daily. Family was her pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband, Sonny Hawkey of Salem, Illinois, one son, Clayton (wife, Missy) Hawkey of Iola, Illinois; two daughters, Marilyn (husband, Brandon) Donoho of Omega, Illinois, Paula Hawkey of St. Peter, Illinois; two brothers, Larry Pemberton of Farina, Illinois, Carroll (wife, Cheryl) Kline of Farina, Illinois; one sister, Pat Sargent of Dix, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Charity Oye (Jack), Lexi Pedtke (Trevor), Levi Whitford (Emma), Tyler Ruholl (Leighanna), Rebecca Taber (Jackie), Trey Hawkey, and Bubba Hawkey; fifteen great-grandchildren, Reece, Ella, Halle, Mia, Carter, Elise, Ava, Jamison, Weston, Sylvia, Maggie, Penny, Kacey, William, and Stetson; Fur-baby Tucker, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded by her parents, Harold and Anita, her brother, Jerry Kline and sister, Kay Hinkle.
