Obituary
Dennis W. Parkhurst, 62 of Effingham, passed away at 7:11 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 in Cumberland County.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 at Watson United Methodist Church with Pastor C.W. Lewis officiating. Burial will be held in Mason Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to time of service, Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Effingham Humane Society. Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dennis was born September 9, 1952 in Effingham, the son of James and Marie (Wines) Parkhurst. He married Rosie Lipski on September 9, 1976 in Germany and she survives. Dennis loved all sports, but most of all, he was a die-hard Yankee fan. After 22 years of service, he retired from United States Army. He was also employed at Auto Zone for 19 years.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Rosie of Effingham; father, James Parkhurst of Kinmundy; step-mother, Sue Parkhurst of Kinmundy; daughter, Tammie King (companion, Andy Beesly) of Altamont, IL; sisters, Kay Wyckoff (husband, Roger) of Effingham, IL and Kathy McMahan (husband, Mike) of Effingham, IL; nephews and nieces, David Wyckoff, James King (girlfriend, Megan Barnes), John, Amanda and Elizabeth McMahan.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Marie; two nieces, Deborah Wyckoff Carzoo and Joy Marie King and grandmother, Bonnie Pemperton Wines.
