Doris Lotz Young, age 85, of St. Peter, Illinois, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 18, 2026 in Vandalia, Illinois with her loving family by her side.
Funeral service will be Monday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor Ryan Meyer will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 21, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Alzheimer’s Association, SBL Hospice, SBL Hospital Long Term Care Activity Program or donor’s choice. Doris was born on December 1, 1940 in Bear Grove Township, Fayette County, the daughter of Robert S. Mosley and Geraldine D. Largent. She married Lyle Lotz on December 19, 1959, and he preceded her in death on November 2, 1996. She later married Eddie Young on January 1, 2003, at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois. Doris was a member of the Ladies Aide at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for many years. She was on the Board of Directors of SAFE, and Relay for Life. She loved spending time going to auctions, and enjoyed traveling, bowling, and playing pinochle. Her family was her pride and joy.
Doris is survived by her husband, Eddie Young, sons, Jeff Lotz (Jeana) and John Lotz (Cindi), stepsons, David Young (Thao) and Bruce Cox (Kendra) ; grandchildren, Tyson Lotz (special friend Brent Law), Krista Lotz- Sharp, and Carissa (Andrew) Snow, Dalee (special friend Alaina Kerske) Young, Emily Young, Brooke (Caleb) Gross, Brea (special friend Bryan Lambird) Cox, Karmyn (Bryce) Pavolka; great-grandchildren J.D., Decker, and Cavan Snow, Quentin and Spencer Sharp, Layton and Brinlea Gross; her brother, Bobby Mosley ; and her sisters, Linda Dugan (James Hejl) and Donna Knebel (Kevin) of Vandalia, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sterling Mosley & Geraldine Doris (Largent) Mosley Hipsher; husband, Lyle Lotz; brother, Roger Mosley, brothers-in-law, Robert J. Dugan and Ed Opfer, Shirell Taylor; sisters-in law, Barbara Littlejohn and Dixie Harnetiaux.
