Helen Louise Limes, age 83, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, Illinois with a one hour viewing prior to service.  Michael Durre will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Iola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to E.A.R.S. (Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary) 15055 N. 16th Ave. Effingham, IL. 62401 or the donor's choice.

Helen was born on February 1, 1936 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Opal and Mildred (Enyart) Barton. She married Carl Griffin in 1956, and they later divorced.  She married Norman Limes on June 11, 1963 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2001. She had worked at Brown Produce, was a former owner of the Iola Café, and was also a caregiver for many years. Helen loved birds, and all animals, especially her fur babies. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and mushroom hunting.

Helen is survived by her 4 daughters, Renee Haarmann (husband Mike) of Mason, Illinois, Sandy Kizziar (husband Terry) Gruver, Texas, Belinda Harpster (husband Dane) of St. Peter, Illinois and Cheryl Pemberton (husband Joe) of Salem, Illinois; 2 sons, Tony Limes of Ridgely, Tennessee and John Limes (wife Pansy) of Edgewood, Illinois;  5 grandchildren, Dale McKinney of Farina, Illinois, Dustin Kizziar (wife Tisha) of Ft. Worth, Texas, Mahala Jacquin (husband Nathan) of St. Peter, Illinois, Mitch Harpster (wife Gretchen) and Amanda Eller (husband Ben) both of Jackson, Missouri; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great - great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ilene White; brother, Lawrence Barton and one grandson, Rodney McKinney.
