James Emery Huntington

James Emery Huntington, age 88, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Illinois, surrounded by his beloved son, granddaughter and grandson-in-law.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no service. Memorials may be in Jim’s name to Edgewood American Legion Post 1168. Online condolences may be left at www.pagelfuneralhome.com

Jim was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 19, 1938, the son of Emery “Fred” and Ruth (Stout) Huntington. He married Christine Schmidt on May 02,1964 in Effingham, Illinois. Jim’s granddaughter meant the world to him. Jim was an avid golfer, never missed tee time. Passed his love of the game to his son. Was a member of Cardinal Golf Course. Loved “Rat Checkers” on Saturday and Sunday’s. Worked for over 30 years at World Color Press.

He is survived by his son; James S. Huntington of Effingham, Illinois, granddaughter; Lauran C. (husband, Mark) Mathis of Effingham, Illinois, brothers; Charles (wife, Dolly) Huntington of Chicago, Illinois, George (wife, Ardel) Huntington of Effingham, Illinois, sister; Judy DeLong of Washington, sisters-in-law; Jenna Huntington, Georgia Huntington, brother-in-law; John Bushue of Effingham, Illinois, and step-grandchildren, Jessica, Tylar, Crosby, and Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Paul and Fred, sister, Joye Bushue, and brother-in-law; Charles DeLong.
