Jasper Lawrence Dyer, age 85, formerly of Iola, Illinois passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, Illinois.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. There will be a two hour visitation prior to the service. Carroll Lewis will be officiating. Burial will be at Keller Cemetery in Lovington, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home or American Cancer Society.
Jasper was born on October 31, 1929 the son of William Jasper and Hattie Belle (Bilbrey) Dyer. He married Evelyn Burcham on December 6, 1953 in Corinth, Mississippi. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion post #1168 and American Legion post #429. He was a diesel mechanic for 40 years and a lifetime farmer. He enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Dyer of Mattoon, Illinois; son, Eric Dyer (wife Mary) of Mattoon, Illinois; two daughters, Mary Wallace of Rogers, Arkansas and Sharon Alexander (husband Larry) of Marshall, Illinois; brother, Charles Dyer of Freeport, Illinois; sister, Alice St. John of Sullivan, Illinois; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hattie Dyer.
