Jay H Buie, age 60, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 3:50 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023 at his home in St. Elmo.

Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family or the donor's choice.

Jay was born on January 28, 1963 in Red Bud, Illinois, the son of James Harvey and Janet (Caraway) Buie. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and hanging out with Justin and Jaycob. Jay was known for joking around and being very social. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by his sons, Jason Buie of Brownstown, Josh Buie (fiancé Alexandria Moore) of Springfield, Justin Buie (wife Krista) of Toledo, and Jaycob Buie of Beecher City; daughters, Jessica Hovis (fiancé Harley Miller) of Sullivan, Jayna Buie of St. Elmo, and Jenna Nelson (husband Antwon) of Cowden; brother, Frankie Barnard; sisters, Shannon Reed of St. Elmo and Samantha Scammahorn of Illinois; and 18 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Janet Buie; son, Jeremy Buie; brother, Randall Buie, and one in infancy.
