Joan Cox, age 80, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 10:04 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Nathan Delks will be officiating. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may go to the American Diabetes Association, Spina Bifida Association, or the donor's choice.

Joan was born on December 8, 1938 in LaClede, Illinois, the daughter of Ray A. and Dorothy (Ricketts) Cox. She was a member of the Edgewood Christian Church and Royal Neighbors of America. Joan worked at Brown's Produce in Farina, Illinois for 50 years. She enjoyed playing video games with her great-nephew, sleeping, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two brothers Richard Cox of Mason, Illinois and John Cox (wife Barb) of Edgewood, Illinois; two sisters, Mary Doedtman of Effingham, Illinois and Janet Burgess of Altamont, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Dorothy Cox; two brothers, Kenneth "Tom" Cox and Harold "Gene" Cox; and one sister, Vera Roedl.
