John Lee Griggs, age 72, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 9:08 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

There will be no services per his request. Memorials may go to Sara Griggs or the donor's choice.

John was born July 30, 1948 in Olney, Illinois, the son of John Freeman and Alta F Fern (Studder) Griggs. He loved blues music, helping others, country drives, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Jake Griggs of St. Elmo, Illinois; daughters, Rachel Faye Evans (husband Clint) of Brownstown, Illinois, Sara Kay Griggs (husband Brannon) of St. Elmo, Illinois; brothers Jack Griggs (wife Carol) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Gene Griggs of Altamont, Illinois, Jerry Griggs of Altamont, Illinois; sister, Janice Cravens of Tower Hill, Illinois; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alta Griggs; brothers, Joe Griggs, Jimmie Griggs, and Jacob Griggs; sister, Joan Cole; brothers-in-law, Stanley Cravens and William Cole.
