John S. Hopper, age 69, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 8:07 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 in his home.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20th, 2018 at the Central Illinois Motorcycle Club, 475 E 1000th Rd, Neoga, Illinois. Memorials may be given to Camp New Hope, 1364 County Rd 100 E, Neoga, IL 62447 or donor's choice.

John was born March 28, 1949 to Roscoe Hopper and Dorothy N. Sparling Hopper in Mattoon, Illinois.  John was an Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. John was a member of Mattoon American Legion Post 88 and the President of the Central Illinois Motorcycle club. Riding motorcycles was his passion.

John is survived by two sons; Wayne Hopper (wife Dee) of Normal, Illinois, Brian Hopper of Neoga, Illinois; one daughter; Dawn Hopper of Louisville Illinois; two brothers Terry Sparling (wife Pam) of Bloomington, Illinois, Jerry Sparling (wife Karlata) of Bloomington, Illinois; three sisters, Judy Winn of Mattoon, Illinois, Daris Carman ( husband, Lonnie) of Mattoon, Illinois, Denise Marshall of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren and his girlfriend; Kathi Cobble of Mattoon, Illinois.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Dorothy Hopper and one brother, Dennis Hopper.
