John Thomas Williams Jr., age 67, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 10:04 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital.

There will be a private memorial service at a later date. Memorials may go to the donor's choice.

John was born on April 11, 1956 in Fayette County, Illinois, the son of John T. Williams Sr. and Betty J. (Mitchell) Williams. He married Stephanie Cripe on August 6, 1993 in St. Elmo. He was a member of the Vandalia VFW. He loved fishing, mushroom and ginseng hunting, and driving around the country roads sightseeing.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Williams of St. Elmo; son, Nathaniel Williams (wife Tricia) of St. Elmo; daughters, Miranda Ledbetter (husband Woody) of Altamont, Amy Burrus (husband Luke) of Altamont, and Brittany Grant of St. Elmo; brothers, Thomas Williams (wife Sandy) of St. Elmo and David Oglesby of St. Elmo; sisters, Betty Ann Brown  of St. Elmo, Sally West of Iowa, Patty Caraway (husband Mike) of St. Elmo; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
