Kenneth John Mitchell

Kenneth “Mitch” John Mitchell, age 84, of Farina, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, with his daughter at his side, in Carterville, Illinois.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 27, 2026 at Keens Chapel Cemetery, rural Farina, Illinois. Jim Giffin will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to family. Online condolences may be left at www.pagelfuneralhome.com

Mitch was born August 27, 1941, in LaClede, Illinois, the son of John Mitchell and Marion Wagoner Mitchell. He married Carole Matlock on June 4, 1965, and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2026. Mitch was a long-time employee of ADM in Farina; he loved his job and visiting with the farmers when they came in. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved everything about nature and never liked to miss an episode of Gunsmoke.

He is survived by his son; Shawn Mitchell; his daughter, Stacy (Steven) Linton of Carterville, Illinois; his brother, Terry Mitchell of Farina, Illinois; his sisters, Carrol Jahraus and Donna Hohlt of Farina, Illinois, his four grandchildren, Zeke (Jaylynn) Linton of Herrin, Illinois, Zoey Linton of Carterville, Illinois, Shawna Cripe of Altamont, Illinois, and Sam (Nicole) Mitchell of Carlyle, Illinois; three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his wife, Carole; his parents, John and Marion Mitchell, and his two sisters, Synda Holmes and Betty Mitchell.
