Mabel V. Burgess, age 81, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at her home in Edgewood, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Nathan Delks will be officiating. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may go to the family or the donor's choice.

Mabel was born on March 24, 1937 in Larkinsburg Township, Illinois, the daughter of Adolph and Eldiva (Elledge) Strackeljohn. She married Bob Burgess on November 21, 1959 in Edgewood, Illinois. She was Treasurer of Brown's Cemetery in rural Edgewood, Illinois. She sold Avon for many years and enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Burgess of Edgewood, Illinois; son, Doug Burgess of Edgewood, Illinois; daughter, Debbie Denton (husband Jim) of Effingham, Illinois; brother, Robert Strackeljohn (wife Glenda) of Farina, Illinois; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and her little dog, sam.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Eldiva Strackeljohn; two sons, Randy Burgess and Rodney Burgess; four brothers, Charles Strackeljohn, Cecil Strackeljohn, Carol Strackeljohn, James Strackeljohn; sister, Peggy Sue Strackeljohn; granddaughter, Amber Renee Dawn Burgess.
