Marilyn Joyce Barcus, age 76, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Memorial service will at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 at C&A Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo, Illinois. There will be a two-hour visitation prior to the service. Dave Thompson will be officiating. Memorials may go to the donor's choice.

Marilyn was born on May 2, 1942 in Fayette County, Illinois, the daughter of Millard L. and Marcella B. (Helm) Haslett. She married Jonathan Eugene Barcus on February 17, 1965 in Charleston, Illinois. Jon and Marilyn had been married for 53 years. She was a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge for many years. She enjoyed flowers and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Marcella Haslett of St. Elmo, Illinois; husband, Jon Barcus of Effingham, Illinois; three sons, Mike Painter of Effingham, Illinois, Randy Barcus (wife Pam) of Montgomery, Texas, Jim Barcus of Effingham, Illinois; brother, Leon Haslett (wife Jo) of Vandalia, Illinois; three sisters, Wanda McCarty (husband Kevin) of Dieterich, Illinois, Juanita Loschen (husband Ken) of Champaign, Illinois, Peggy Scholes (husband Ray) of St. Elmo, Illinois; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Millard L. Haslett.
