Marshall Maxwell Potter, age 58, of St. Elmo, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at his home.

Marshall was born on March 18, 1967 in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Darrell Lee Potter and Lana Claggett Potter. Marshall graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Economics, and from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Foreign Language and International Trade. He followed in his father's footsteps working as a farmer, and took great pride in continuing his father's legacy. Marshall loved fishing, gardening, cooking, and especially loved grilling out on his smoker. He spent his days playing pickle ball and was an avid Illini fan, watching every game he could.

Marshall is survived by his mother, Lana Claggett Potter, and his three sisters, Darelyn Lee Potter, Lana Tiffany Potter, and Ashley Claggett Potter, as well as his nephews and nieces, Esther Inez Potter, Jude Kingsley Erwin, Adrian Mikel Fair, Syndey Canyon Fair, and Emma Alexandra Wells.

Marshall was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Lee Potter.
