Marvin Austin, age 75, of Altamont, Illinois passed away at 1:58 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois with a one-hour viewing prior to service. Roger Marshall will be officiating. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery in rural Altamont, Illinois. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may be made to donor's choice.

Marvin was born on September 24, 1940 in Jackson Township, Illinois, the son of Charles and Bessie (Jones) Austin.  He enjoyed playing music and played around the Decatur area.

He is survived by one son, Steve Austin of St. Elmo, Illinois; one brother, Dutch Austin of Effingham, Illinois and one sister, Melba (husband Jim) Lawrence of Effingham, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bessie Austin and one brother, Charles Edwin Austin.
