Nadine Anetta Nelson, age 91, of Mason, Illinois passed away at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Effingham, Illinois surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois with a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Jeff Morrison will be officiating. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may go to Harvest United Methodist Church in Edgewood, Illinois or the donor's choice.

Nadine was born on August 2, 1926 in LaClede, Illinois the daughter of William Edward and Clara Bell (Rufty) Wagoner. She married Loren Adrian Nelson on April 30, 1946 in Effingham, Illinois, they were married for 70 years and they were the love of each other's lives. She was a member of the Harvest United Methodist Church in Edgewood, Illinois.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her family and her cats.

She is survived by her three daughters, Janet Alwardt (husband Earl) of Mattoon, Illinois, Linda Rawlins (husband Victor) of Mason, Illinois and Cathy Ashbaugh (husband David) of Effingham, Illinois; eight grandchildren, David Alwardt (wife Crystal) of Mattoon, Illinois, Mike Alwardt (wife Megan) of Mattoon, Illinois, Kristin Alwardt (special friend Lance Shoots) of Lerna, Illinois, Christopher Rawlins of Mason, Illinois, Jason Rawlins of Indianapolis, Indiana, Stephanie Hollinshead (husband Jesse) of Mason, Illinois, Shawn Buening of Greenwood, Indiana; ten great-grandchildren, Holly Alwardt, Colten Schrock, Mackenzie Alwardt, Macie Alwardt, Halen Wells, Alyssa Kramer, Kierra Kramer, Raye Hollinshead, Talon Hollinshead, Samantha Buening; one great great-grandchild, Lincoln Alwardt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Wagoner; husband, Loren Adrian Nelson; four sisters, Lela Hampstine, Irma Hall, Audrey Long, Marion Mitchell; brothers, Percy Wagoner, Paul Wagoner, Dwayne Wagoner and grandson, Brian Adrian Wright.
