Norman Arthur Gehle, age 96, of St. Peter, Illinois, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 15, 2026 in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham. Pastor Timothy Landskroener will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LWML, Haven of St. Elmo in care of Norman Gehle, or donor’s choice. Norman was born on March 19, 1930 in Fayette County, the son of Martin and Clara (Hollman) Gehle. He married Doris Forbes on April 6, 1958 at the Christian Church in Vandalia, Illinois. He was a farmer all of his life. He had a wonderful sense of humor, always teasing and having fun. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, raising cattle, and singing hymns in German. Above all, he had an unwavering faith.

Norman is survived by sons, Brad Gehle of St. Peter, and Brian (Paula Krohn) Gehle of St. Peter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Clara Gehle, his wife, Doris Gehle,

brothers, Erhard Gehle, Filbert Gehle, and sister, Viola Lotz.
