Ralph was born on October 21, 1963 in Effingham, the son of the late Ralph “Pancake” and Lucille (Bricker) Pontious. He was a graduate of the Effingham High School class of 1982. He married Tracie Simmons on October 7, 1989. Ralph worked in various factories during his lifetime and was most recently employed at Flex N Gate in Effingham. Ralph was a family-oriented man who wouldn’t miss a family gathering. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his older grandson’s derby and loved hunting and fishing together. He loved watching the sports that his younger grandchildren participated in, and especially looked forward to trips for Chinese food with his grandson Levi.

Ralph is survived by his daughters Macci (Jake) Long of Altamont and Ashley Bowen of Farina; son, Kenny (Faith) Logsdon of Bicknell, Indiana; grandchildren, Levi, Jacob (Alli), Jason, and Rodney Bowen, all of Farina, Zaiden and Gannon Lock, and Dalayna and Paisley Long, all of Altamont, and Erieyn Logsdon of Bicknell, Indiana; brothers, Clarence Pontious, Raymond (Nellie) Pontious, and Todd (Arlene) Pontious, all of Effingham; sisters, Emma (Rick) Schmidt and Jo (Gale) Budde, all of Watson; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Spanky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lucille Pontious; brother, Jim Pontious; grandparents, John and Bessie Bricker and Clarence and ReEllen Pontious; his sons-in-law, Zach Lock and Jason Bowen; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his lifetime companion Tracie Pontious.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to his HSHS Hospices nurses, Candace and Kayla for their compassionate care during his extended illness.
