Obituary

Richard "Dick" C. Courson, age 75 of St. Peter, IL was called home to be with Jesus at 7:08 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, IL.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, IL. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 with a one hour viewing prior to service at the St. Peter Lutheran Church. Rev. William Emrick and Rev. Doulas Meyer will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Care Center of Altamont or donor's Choice. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.pagelfuneralhome.com .

Richard was born on July 15, 1939 in Meacham Township of Illinois, the son of Arthur and Minnie (Outhouse) Courson. He married Doris Ann Rothe on February 26, 1961 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association, the St. Peter Lutheran Church, and has served on the Lutheran Care Center Board and on various boards in his church. He was a loving and gracious husband and father and he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many school and sports activities. He also enjoyed socializing at the coffee shop with his many friends, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball and Illini fan and was also active in Standard bred horse racing.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Courson of St. Peter, Illinois; one son, Gregory Dean Courson (wife Sarah) of Farina, Illinois; three daughters, Christine Carol Whitney (husband Burl) of Monticello, Illinois, Karen Ann Whitt (husband Alan) of Altamont, Illinois and Stacey Jo Alberson (husband Doug) of Salem, Illinois; one brother, Roger Courson of Edgewood, Illinois; one sister, Phyllis Maske (husband Delmar)  of Farina, Illinois; 11 grandchildren: Ryan, Lindsey and Cole Courson, Ashley and Alyssa Whitney, Jennifer, Travis and Kaleb Whitt, Tyler, Luke and Cade Alberson and two step – grandchildren Jenna and Maggie Nevlin; also many nephews and nieces.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Minnie Courson and one brother, Harley Courson.
