Richard “Rick” Leon Ashley, age 68, of Watson, Illinois, passed Monday, August 24, 2026, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon, Illinois with his loving family by his side.
Funeral service will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, Illinois with visitation from 3:00 p.m. to start of service. Brenda Byers will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to family to help with final expenses or donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left at www.pagelfuneralhome.com
Rick was born on August 31, 1957, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Earl Edward Ashley and Donna (Daugherty) Ashley. He married Mary M. Hutson on March 14, 1992, in Effingham, Illinois. Rick loved playing guitar and singing, often at the Kinmundy Opry and the Edgewood Opry. He was a true outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom and ginseng hunting.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Mary of Watson, Illinois; sons, Glen Webb, Jr. and Eric Webb of Effingham, Illinois; Justin Webb of Leitchfield, Kentucky; daughters, Amy (Brandon) Wininger of Charleston, Illinois, Donna (fiancé, Bruce Reeves) Ashley of Altamont, Illinois, Juli (Nathan) Mietzner of Mason, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his son, James Michael Ashley; parents, Earl and Donna; brother, James E. Ashley, and in-laws, Justice and Loleta Hutson.
