Robert "Bob" E. Rich, age 67 of Effingham, IL passed away at 12:00 p.m.    Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his residence in Effingham, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday January 27, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Watson, Illinois. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Watson, Illinois with one hour viewing prior to service. Carroll Lewis will be officiating.  Burial will be at Mt. Zion cemetery in rural Dieterich, IL with military rites.  Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Watson United Methodist Church or donors' choice.

Bob was born on November 5, 1947 in Monticello, Illinois, the son of Jacob E. and Letha M. (Davis) Rich. He married Janet McKinney on December 17, 1966 at the Mt. Zion Church in rural Dieterich, IL. He served in the Vietnam War as a Sergeant of the U.S Army. In 1972, he became a full time Police officer for the Effingham Police Department for which he severed for 30 years. He retired to part time duty on January of 2003 for the city and county of Effingham, Illinois.  He was a member of the Watson United Methodist Church and enjoyed working with his boys on the farm, taking ranger rides with his dog and always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Bob leaves behind his wife of 48 years of marriage, Janet Rich of Effingham, Illinois; two sons, Rob Rich (wife Tammy) and Justin Rich (wife Emily) both of Effingham, Illinois; one brother, Jerry Rich (wife Janice) of West Salem, Illinois; sister, Phyllis Ulm (husband Clyde) Forsyth, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Sandy Carter of Dieterich, Illinois; brother-in-law, Jr. McKinney of Salem, Illinois; three grandchildren, Hunter Rich, Ryan Rich and Andrew Finfrock all of Effingham, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Letha Rich and one sister, Betty Jo Rich.
