Robert Ray Strackeljohn, age 75, of Iola, Illinois passed away at 9:21 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021 at Brown Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Reverend Michael Durre will be officiating.  Memorials may go to Brown Cemetery, the family, or the donor's choice.

Robert was born on August 1, 1945 in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of Adolf and Eldiva Alva (Elledge) Strackeljohn. He married Glenda Simmons on March 5, 1994 in Edgewood, Illinois. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, going to auctions, mowing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Strackeljohn who loved him very much of Iola, Illinois; sons, Ron Strackeljohn (special friend Christina Hanks) of Iola, Illinois, Eddie Burgess (wife Bert) of Altamont, Illinois, and Troy Burgess of Edgewood, Illinois; daughters, Terri Kemper of Arthur, Illinois and Susan Hatfill (husband Chris) of Edgewood, Illinois; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolf and Eldiva Strackeljohn; son, Billy Strackeljohn; brothers, Charles, James, Carrol, and Cecil Strackeljohn; sisters, Mabel Burgess and Peggy Sue.
