Roger G. O'Dell, age 86 of St. Peter, Illinois was called home to be with Jesus at 8:23 p.m.  Friday December 19, 2014 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, Illinois.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, IL. Funeral service

es will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter, IL. There will be a one hour viewing prior to the service. Roger was born April 1, 1928 in Loogootee, IL the son of Lorenzo Martin and Columbia Fern (Smithson) O'Dell. He married Martha Louise Schroeder on October 23, 1948 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.  He was a charter member of the volunteer Fire Department in St. Peter, Illinois. Roger was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school, was a member of the Men's Club, and served on various boards. He taught two years at Pleasant Grove School. He attended Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. He owned O'Dell's Market in St. Peter and the Farina Locker Service in Farina, IL. He enjoyed fishing, wood crafts, and was a master gardener. He loved inventing and fixing things.

He is survived by his wife, Martha O'Dell of Altamont, IL.; two sons, Richard O'Dell (wife Sue) of Columbia, SC., James O'Dell (wife Deb) of Tulsa, OK.; daughter, Kathleen Hintzman (husband Chuck) of West Lafayette, IN.; sister-in-law, Pat O'Dell of Percy, IL.; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Parsons, Kevin Hintzman, Eric O'Dell, Adam Hintzman, Jamie Sanzalone, Michael O'Dell, and Johnny O'Dell; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Anna Parsons, Jack, Luke, Brooklyn and Charlie O'Dell, Connor and Reid Hintzman, and Kaylee and Lexi O'Dell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe O'Dell.
