Rolland Keith Hawkey, age 87, of Effingham, Illinois passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Judy Poe will be officiating. Interment will be at Keen's Chapel Cemetery in Larkinsburg Township with Military Rites. Memorials may go to the Heartland Senior Living Activity Department or the donor's choice. Rolland was born on January 17, 1937 in Farina, Illinois, the son of Louis and Anna B. (Simmons) Hawkey. He married Vera Mae Dorn on October 23, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi. Rolland served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to watch them play.

He is survived by his daughters, Diane Aukamp (husband Denny) of Pensacola, Florida, and Paula McKay (husband Alan) of Petersburg, Illinois; grandchildren, Chad Thilker, Michael McKay, Ryan McKay, Tonya Hinz; great-grandchildren, Philip Hinz and Jessica Thilker, MacKenzie Thilker

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna Hawkey; wife, Vera Mae Hawkey; brothers, Lewis, Kenneth, Earl, Herald Gene, and Jerry Hawkey and sister, Cleta Jones, Mildred Bermingham, Ailene Hawkey, Imogene Beasley, and Pauline Depoister.
