Ronald Lee Torbeck, age 70, of Bluff City, Illinois passed away at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, November 22, 2018 at his home.
Memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in St. Elmo, Illinois with visitation from 1:30 p. m. to 2:30 p. m. prior to service. Larry Clonch will be officiating. Burial will be at the Griffith Cemetery in Brownstown, Illinois with military rites. Memorials may go to the Vandalia Radio station 103.1FM. WEMV, Vandalia or Brownstown VFW or donor's choice.
Ronald was born on April 4, 1948 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Laurence and Anita (Aukamp) Torbeck. He served the US Army during Vietnam and was a highly regarded employee of Van Seal/Crane Packing for nearly four decades. Ron was an undisputed record holder for squeezing the most years of service out of any one pickup truck. A true chip off the old block.
Ronald is survived by his two sons, Robert VanUytven and Jason VanUytven both of Ramsey, IL.; one brother, Ivan Torbeck (wife Prima) of Brownstown, IL.; one sister, Judy Baker (Husband Terry) of Mattoon, IL. and 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Anita Torbeck; two sons, Gayle and Chase VanUytven; one daughter, Dorothy VanUytven and three brothers, who died in infancy.
