Ronnie Leon Merritt Sr., age 60, of rural Edgewood, Illinois passed away unexpectedly in the evening of Wednesday, July 24, 2024 after a motorcycle accident.

There will be no services at this time. Memorials may go to the family or the donor's choice.

Ronnie was born on June 2, 1964 in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Paul Leon and Carolyn (Ingram) Merritt. He was a retired oil field operator who loved the simple things in life. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles. His family already misses him dearly.

He is survived by his sons, Ronnie Merritt Jr. of Edgewood and Mason Thomas of Cisne; daughter, Rachel Merritt of Edgewood; sister, Karla Merritt Labitzke of Effingham; several grandchildren; two nieces, Misty Glass-Powers and Mindy Glass-Sizemore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Merritt and Carolyn Richards and brother, Scott Merritt.
