Ruth Wasmuth, age 89, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 12:39 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, Illinois.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, Illinois. Peter LeDuc will be officiating. Burial will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, Illinois. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the tuition fund at the St. Peter Lutheran School, St. Peter American Legion Auxilary, Lighthouse Pregnancy Center or the donor's choice.

Ruth was born on October 11, 1926 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Orville and Pauline (Ooton) Powell. She married Virgil "Butch" Wasmuth on December 24, 1949 in Vandalia, Illinois at the St. James Lutheran Church, who preceded her in death on September14, 1998. She was a member of the St. Peter American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth loved traveling and spending time with her large family.

She is survived by her five sons, Gary Powell (wife Doris) of Salem, Illinois, Jerry Pribble (wife Betty) of Orlando, Florida, Steve Wasmuth (wife Shelly) of St. Peter, Illinois, David Wasmuth (wife Lisa) Augsburg, Illinois and Jeffery Wasmuth of St. Peter, Illinois; two daughters, Patty Hapeman (husband Mark) of Salem, Illinois and Pam Allen (husband Jim) of St. Peter, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and two great – great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Pauline Powell; brother, Robert Powell and one sister, Mary Wasmuth.
