Obituary

Sarah Sue Elam, age 74, of Watson, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 8:50 a.m. at the Lakeland Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be Friday, November 26, 2021 at 12 p.m. at the Watson Baptist Church with a visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service. Becky DeWeese will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Watson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Watson Baptist Church or to the donor's choice.

Sarah was born on December 26, 1946, in Effingham, Illinois, to Lee Roy and Sarah Mae (Davis) DeWeese in Effingham County. Sarah was a waitress for many years. Her greatest passion was being with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, working puzzles and drawing.

She is survived by three sons, Ricky Elam, Harlan Elam, and Travis Elam; one daughter, Sally Meyer (husband Thomas); three brothers, Edward DeWeese (wife Marlene), Paul DeWeese (wife Carol) and Leo DeWeese (wife Becky); one sister, Patricia Green (husband Johnny); 11 grandchildren, Joey (Brittany), Cheyenne, Shawn, Joseph (Mariha), Rikki (Dillon), Brittni (Sammy), Kasha (Rafael), Harlan, Kendra, Timothy, and Trystan; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Elliot.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Sarah DeWeese; one daughter, Kimberly Elam, and one brother, James DeWeese.
