Tony Richard Matlock

Tony Richard Matlock, age 77, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Monday, March 23, 2026, at Glenwood Assistant Living in Effingham, Illinois.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, Illinois, starting at 5:00 p.m. and Masonic Rites will be held at 6:00 p.m. Brenda Byers will be officiating the service following the Masonic Rites.

Tony was born in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Clinton R. Matlock and Vivian L. (Ripplinger) Matlock on October 17, 1948. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Edgewood, Illinois, and the Johnston City Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Illinois State Rifle Association, and the NRA. He was retired from Illinois Central Railroad/Canadian National Railroad, with over 40 years of service. He was a gun collector and a lover of all genres of music. Tony is survived by his son, Richard (wife, Sarah) Matlock of Effingham, Illinois, brothers; Gail (wife, Sandra) Matlock of St. Elmo, Illinois, Rick Matlock of Kentucky, and James (friend, Becky Stallings) Matlock of Edgewood, Illinois, seven grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Vivian Matlock, wife, Emma, and daughter, Melissa Matlock.
