Vera Lynn Higgs, age 70, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 5:38 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 am.Monday, June 22, 2020 at Mason Cemetery in Mason Illinois.  Pastor Kenny Cripps will be officiating.  Memorials may go to the family in lieu of funeral expenses or to the donor's choice.

Vera was born on February 19, 1950 in Effingham County, the daughter of Earl D. and Eva M. (Bricker) Fulk.  She married Larry Lee Higgs on October 16, 1970 in Elliottstown, Illinois.  She was a member of the Effingham V.F.W. and the Watson United Methodist Church.  Vera enjoyed cooking, fishing, going to auctions and spending time with family and friends.

Vera is survived by sons, Jeff Higgs (wife Anna) of Mattoon, Illinois, Dale Higgs of Effingham, Illinois and Larry Lee Higgs, Jr. (wife Amber) of Effingham, Illinois; two brothers, Earl Fulk (wife Renee) from San Clemente, California and Ralph Fulk (wife Penny) from Bonne Terre, Missouri; two sisters, Linda Devore (husband Art) of Beecher City, Illinois and Cathy McWhorter (companion John) of Shumway, Illinois; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Eva Fulk; her husband, Larry Higgs and one son, Kelly Higgs.
