Virgie E. Byers, age 94, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 10:19 a. m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood, Illinois. Pastor Robert Peach will be officiating. Visitation from 9 a. m. to 11: 00 a. m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Edgewood Cemetery. Memorials may go to the Gospel Assembly Church at 509 S. Merchant Street. Effingham, Illinois or the donor's choice.

Virgie was born on September 25, 1924 in Clay County, Illinois to Arvis and Oma (Coleman) Chapman. She married Donald Bernard Byers on March 8, 1944 in Effingham, Illinois.

She loved going to Church and playing bingo. She is survived by her two sons, Donald R. Byers (wife Sandra) of Gallatin, Tenn. and Larry Byers (wife Mary Lynn) of Effingham, Illinois;7grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvis and Oma Chapman; daughter, Virginia Logue; 6 brothers, Charlie, Woodrow, Kenneth, Gene, Ray and Lee; 3 sisters, Gladys Edwards, Elizabeth Walbeck, and Violet McAdams.
