Virginia Lovett, age 96, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Pagel Funeral Homes in St. Elmo with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Reverend Kelly Carruthers will be officiating. Interment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the funeral home. Memorials may go to St. Elmo Veteran's Memorial or the donor's choice.
Virginia was born on July 31, 1927 on the family farm in rural St. Peter, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (McMillan) Mahon. She married Ivan L. Lovett on April 27, 1947. She was a member of the St. Elmo United Methodist Church. She loved baking and trying new recipes, reading, gardening, bird watching, music, and cats. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Virginia also enjoyed traveling and collectables.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Lovett (wife Kathy) of St. John, Indiana, Randy Lovett (wife Jean) of Temecula, California, Lee Lovett (wife Sandra) of Carterville, and Mark Lovett (wife Michele) of Louisville; daughter, Lori Davitz (husband Larry) of Alton; brother, Jack Mahon (wife Judy) of Salem; sister, Claribell Irvin of Urbana; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dorothy Mahon; husband, Ivan Lovett; daughter, Barbara Conatser; and brothers, Glenn and Bob Mahon.
