William "Bill" Eugene Sowers, age 84, of Mason, Illinois passed away at 12:15 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2021 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Sam Hester will be officiating. There will be a two-hour visitation prior to the service. Burial will be at Funkhouser Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may go to American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.

Bill was born on April 20, 1937 in Greenup, Illinois, the son of William H. and Bertha E. (Hutson) Sowers. He married Joan Leasher on April 23, 1955 in Toledo, Illinois. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, whittling, camping, shooting, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Bruce Sowers (wife Brenda) of Farina, Illinois; daughters, Terry Dunn of Stewardson, Illinois and Candi Mintert (husband Tracy) of Effingham, Illinois; brother, Richard "Dick" Sowers (wife Wanda) of Bethany, Illinois; sister, Patricia Titus of Greenup, Illinois, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Dennis Dunn of Mason, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertha Sowers; wife, Joan Sowers; sons, William Sowers in infancy and Rusty Sowers; brothers, Carroll "Pete" Sowers Kenneth John Sowers, Berl Dean "Jim" Sowers, Randall Sowers; sister, Marcia Sowers; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Sowers; grandchildren, Levi Sowers and Shanda Eyman; two great-grandchildren in infancy, Serenity Dunn and Nevada Adams.
