Barbara Ann Cox

Barbara Ann Cox, age 75, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Per Barb’s wishes, there will be no services. Memorials may go to Pagel Funeral Homes or the donor’s choice. 

Barb’s family would like to thank HSHS Home Health Care and Hospice nurses for their care provided in the last days of her life.

Barb was born on December 27, 1948 in Effingham County, Illinois, the daughter of Ray and Shirley (Hardiek) Bierman. She married John Cox on June 3, 1967, they celebrated 56 years together. Barb was employed at Fedders for 33 years. She loved spending time and caring for her pride and joy, her grandson, Jesse. She was a tough woman that battled cancer for over 25 years.

She is survived by her husband, John Cox of Edgewood; son, Mike Cox (Jennifer) of Edgewood; grandson, Jesse Cox of Edgewood; siblings, Linda Guldenzopf (Mike) of Dieterich and Kenny Bierman (Connie) of Effingham; brother-in-law, Vernon Stiffler of Effingham; siters-in-law, Mary Doedtman of Effingham and Janet Burgess of Altamont; her beloved dog, Princess; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Shirley Bierman; sister, Joyce Stiffler; in-laws, Ray Cox and Dorothy (Ermine) Wilson; nieces and nephews, Candy and Steve Guldenzoph, Bob Roedl, and Ronnie Roedl; brothers-in-law, Gene Cox, Tom Cox, and Richard Cox; sisters-in-law, Vera Roedl and Joan Cox.
