Betty Lou Riechman

Betty L. Riechman, age 82, of Farina, Illinois, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  at Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, Illinois with a visitation from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to service. Reverend Jerry Gesell will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Farina Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, American Cancer Society or the donor’s choice.

Betty was born February 11, 1939 to Leonard “Pete” and Evelyn E. (Colclasure) Schneider. She married Burl D. Whitney on February 8, 1959. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1963. She later married Jim E. Riechman on April 29, 1966 and he survives. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sending cards and letters, and reading books.

Betty is survived by one son, Burl Whitney (wife Christy) of Monticello, Illinois; two daughters, Tracey Harris (husband Jim) of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Marsha Stierwalt (husband Mark) of Geneva, Illinois; grandchildren, Miranda Moeller-Staley (wife Courtney), Eric Moeller (wife Jorie), Ashley Kennedy (husband Patrick), Marcus Stierwalt (wife Rachel), Mason Stierwalt (wife Maci), and Alyssa Whitney; great-grandchildren, Keagan, Charley and Harper Moeller and Henry Stierwalt.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard “Pete” and Evelyn E. Schneider; her first husband, Burl D. Whitney, and one sister, Marilyn Kline.
