Charles L. Mahon, age 71, of Vandalia, Illinois passed away at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, Illinois.
There will a private family graveside service. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in rural St. Peter, Illinois. Jim Giffin will be officiating. Memorials may go to Second Chance Animal Rescue, Pleasant Grove Cemetery, or the donor’s choice.

Charles was born on May 7, 1949 in St. Peter, Illinois, the son of Harold and Edith (Ahlmann) Mahon. He married Kathy Donaldson on June 12, 1971 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Leavenworth, Kansas. Charles served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1973. He loved farming and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Mahon of Vandalia, Illinois; son, Charles Michael Mahon of Vandalia, Illinois and Andy Mahon of Vandalia, Illinois; brother, David Mahon of St. Peter, Illinois; 8 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Edith Mahon; brothers, Jim Mahon and Dean Mahon; sister, Mary Mahon; in-laws, Bill and Helen Parker; sister-in-law, Kathleen Mahon.
