Debra Kay McManaway

Debra “Deb” Kay McManaway, age 67, of Effingham, Illinois passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A celebration of life for Deb will be held at a later date. 

Deb was born on November 12, 1955 in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of John W. and Beulah F. (Levitt) Dilworth. She married Norman “Norm” Gene McManaway on April 19, 1991 in Altamont. She was a former member of LaClede Church of Nazarene. Deb loved knitting, crocheting, playing bingo, crossword puzzles, reading, watching old western movies and listening to western music. She was known for her heart of gold, which she opened up to many children over the years during daycare and foster care.

She is survived by her son, Lonnie Cook Jr. of Windsor; daughter, Shelly Verdeyen of Effingham; sisters, Fran Leasher (husband Carl) of Windsor, Vickie Fleshner of Effingham, and Johna McKinney of Farmersville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Beulah Dilworth; husband, Norm McManaway, daughter, Kelly Renay; brother-in-law, George Flehsner.
