Doris was born on November 11, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of Frank and Mary (Fredrickson) Buechsenschuss.  She was a registered nurse, homemaker, and former owner of Doris’ Collectibles.

At Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio she was an RN, often as a surgical nurse.  She married Elmer Wollin on April 14, 1951.  Elmer & Doris were dairy farmers up until the late 1970’s.  In 1976 they started Doris’ Collectibles buying and selling Bing & Grondahl collector plates from her mother’s homeland of Denmark.  They had a thriving business in St Peter and took that business on the road throughout the Midwest making many dear friends along the way.  That business evolved into Authentic Street Signs, currently operated by Mark & Marcia Wollin.  Doris enjoyed helping wherever she could, always with a smile.  She was active in the family business until the age of 81.

Her passion was cooking and baking.  As a teenager she was up before dawn helping her father deliver bread to stores in Toledo, Ohio.  After marriage, she made wedding cakes for a short time and later became known for her delicious German Chocolate and Carrot cakes.  She enjoyed sewing in her younger years, making her own wedding gown as well as clothes for her children and nieces.  In later years she developed a talent for writing beautiful poetry reflecting her Christian values.  She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and LWML.  She was a beautiful soul and had a gift for making people feel special and loved.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel Wollin of St. Peter; Mark (wife Marcia) Wollin of St. Peter, daughter, Pauline Wollin of Effingham; granddaughter, Megan (husband Nathan) Murphree of St. Peter; great-granddaughters, Allie and Lucy Murphree of St. Peter, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; brother, Donald Buechsenschuss.
