Dorothy Lena Harpster

   Dorothy Lena Harpster, age 91, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 8:44 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at 605 E. Third St. St. Peter, IL with a two-hour visitation prior to the service. Rev. Timothy Landskroener will be officiating. Memorials may go to St. Peter’s Lutheran School Tuition Assistance Fund or the donor’s choice.

Dorothy was born on April 11, 1932 in St. Peter, Illinois, the daughter of William and Martha (Grandt) Reed.  She married Robert Harpster on August 8, 1954 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, and LWML.  She was very devoted to her family and enjoyed tending to her flowers. She was also retired from the First State Bank of St. Peter.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Harpster of St. Peter; daughters, Ann (Larry) Gehle of Jefferson City, MO and Jane (Scott) Towne of Danville, IL; sisters-in-laws, Elizabeth Reed of Washington, IL and Ruth Reed of St. Peter, IL; grandchildren, Lewis Towne of Danville, IL, Easton Towne of Cincinnati, OH, Kristi (Richard) Stoddard of Watson, IL,  Jessica Gehle and Jordan Shenk of Tacoma, WA;  four great grandchildren: Reagan Keck, Makayla Shoot, Vincent Stoddard, and Avi Shenk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Reed; brothers:   Louis Reed, Raymond Reed, Floyd Reed, Howard Reed; and one sister, Ruth Reed Rubin.
