Elmer Etherton Obituary

 

Elmer L. Etherton, age 67, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 9:33 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at his home in St. Elmo.

Military funeral honors by the St. Elmo American Legion Post# 420 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the Barn in St. James, Illinois followed by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Second Chance Animal Rescue of Fayette County 602 W. Saint Louis Ave. Vandalia, Illinois 62471, to the family for expenses, or the donor’s choice. Elmer was born on August 17, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Elmer C. and Gladys (Calvert) Etherton. He was a member of the A.B.A.T.E. Motorcycle Club and loved riding motorcycles. He also loved working on old cars, motorcycles, and tractors, making wine, and spending time with his three dogs, Dingo, Cinnamon, and Patch.

He is survived by his lifetime companion, Karen Lee of St. Elmo; two sons, Corey Etherton (wife Myrandi) of Dover, TN, Michael Etherton (companion Amanda Lange) of LaClede; daughter, Amy Rushing (husband Dion) of Dover, TN; Step son, Joey Lee (fiancé Hannah)  of Farina; two brothers, Paul Etherton of Clarksville, TN and Myron J.R. Bates of Murry, KY; two sisters, Tinker Buchan of Lincoln, IL, Carla Cooksey (husband Tim) of New Concord, KY; close friend, Jeremy Sanchez of Green Castle, IN; 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Gladys Etherton; sister, Robin Etherton; brother-in-law, John Buchan; and his fur baby, Buster.
